A Couple of Scrapbook Pages

I got a little time to make a couple of layouts for myself.  The first two use my Little Puddle Jumper mini kit. This one is of Sir Q. playing in the kiddie pool his first summer.

This second one is of Capt. C. looking cute while chewing on his fingers.  Hubby has since informed me that this layout is kinda gross because of the fact that the rain is drool, but I don’t care.  If I’m the one that has to get drool and spit up on me on a regular basis, I’m allowed to have a twisted sense of humor about it.

And finally we have Sir Q. again, hunting Easter eggs last year.  This layout uses items from my Cottontail Bunny Bits element pack.

Geeks Are One Crafty Bunch

I have found that a lot of people share a love for both things geeky and crafty and that many are very talented.  I thought I would share a few sites that I check on a regular basis to get my dose of geek craft inspiration.  I have a list a mile long of all the things I want to make because of these sites and it just keeps growing.  Unfortunately I still need to learn how to crochet to make a number of them.

Geek Central Station has the cutest amigurumi creations, like Gandalf the White and all the other Lord of the Rings characters.

Gandalf

The clothes and accessories are too cute!  There is just something about little crocheted dolls with tiny staffs and swords that makes me want to squeeze their cheeks. She also features all sorts of other geeky crafts made by others that she finds around the net.

Another great site is Sprite Stitch. It’s all video game inspired, so you see lots of fun stuff inspired by the original games we grew up playing as well as lots of new stuff.  I never thought of perler beads as a art form but some of the stuff on that site has made me change my mind.

And a post about geek craft sites would not be complete without mentioning Geek Crafts.  Here you will find a huge variety of stuff, including even what to do with your leftover peeps. Check it out!

I’m sure there are a ton of other great sites but I try to keep my list from getting too long.  My kids already think the computer is a member of the family and I’m pretty good at wasting time on it, so in the interest of actually going to sleep at a reasonable time at night I will stop there.

Kids and Car Trips

When I was younger and used to say “time flies”, my mom would always say “just wait until you get older.”  Well this last week definitely went by fast.  Now I did spend the first part of it traveling with my boys, so by the time I got home and did all of my catching up stuff the week was over.  So now I’m finally getting a chance to look back over the week’s adventure and revisit some of the more memorable moments…

So I thought that I would be able to handle a road trip with a 3 year old and a 4 month old.  I told myself lots of moms deal with more kids than I have and most don’t end up going crazy.  So I felt brave enough to pile into the car and take off with my boys.

I left early in the morning hoping that they would both fall back asleep in the car.  No dice.  Sir Q was HUNGRY and proceeded to tell me so repeatedly.  No problem, I brought graham crackers and juice.  A nice easy snack that wouldn’t be too messy to let him eat in the car.  He munched it down and quieted up.  Then about one hour into our little adventure, he started to cough.  You know that really concerning cough, with a little gag here and there.  The one that sounds like something is on its way back up.  So I start trying to pull over as the graham cracker makes it reappearance.

Did I mention that it was a really chilly and windy day?  So I get the car pulled over and jump out, fling the back door open and pull him out.  He was already all done and is now crying because he thinks he’s in trouble.  We are both shivering, he’s crying and I’m trying to figure out what the heck I’m going to do with my now graham cracker crusted kid and car.  After making sure that he was indeed done I stand him in the floor board of the car while I run around and dig out the suit case to find him some clean clothes.  I strip him down (all the while he is crying and I’m trying to assure him that I’m not mad, even though I’m freezing and can’t believe I thought it was safe to leave the house).

Now I have to figure out what to do about the car.  I didn’t think to pack paper towels (as my grandma pointed out would have been a good idea), so I grab all the blankets I brought for Capt. C. and start cleaning as best I can.  So eventually I get my semi clean kid back into his seat in the semi clean car, resist the urge to just turn around and go home and continue on down the road.

Luckily we did not have any more lovely reappearances of food on the rest of our trip, although I did enjoy the smell of cinnamon for the next couple hours.  Despite the rocky beginning, over all we had a good visit and I got to see my family so it was worth it.

Happy Easter!

Hope everyone is getting ready for a wonderful Easter weekend.  I’m packing so that the boys and I can go visit my family.  Its kinda a spur of the moment plan but I really need to see my family.  Hubby will have to stay here to work so wish me luck trying to wrangle my kiddos on a 7.5 hours drive.

Also I made up a quick little kit for Easter.  It has 3 cute little cottontail bunnies, along with baskets and eggs.  Perfect to add to your favorite Spring kit and scrap your Easter egg hunts with. You can find it HERE

So until next week and have a Blessed Easter!
