Even though I’m pretty much a digi convert when it comes to scrapping, I still like to play with my scissors and glue every once in awhile. I had ordered these name books last summer and had planned to have them done by everyone’s birthdays that year. Well I missed my boys and my nephew’s birthdays and then Christmas came and went, but I managed to finish two of the books this January. My nephews’ book took me a bit to finish because his name has 7 letters in it and I almost ran out of the paper I was using for it. I was so happy to have it finished that I forgot to take any pictures before I gave it to him. So you will just have to trust me that it turned out great.
The second book went a little faster since the name only had 3 letters in it. Our friend’s little girl, Zoe, celebrated her second birthday in February and she had a Elmo party, so I made her name word book with a Elmo theme. I had originally added a fourth page with a flower shape to help add more room for pictures, but with a little creative trimming the flower was turned into Elmo.

These books are one of those projects that about half way through you wonder if this really was good idea but once they are done they look great and you start trying to figure out what other words would be fun to scrap. Maybe before this year is over I’ll finish the ones for my boys.

So my few days to catch up after the holidays turned into a month. January flew by entirely too fast but luckily I am making progress on some of my 2010 goals despite the speed at which the year is moving. It’s funny that anytime I mention how fast the year is going by to any of my parents or grandparents, they always say something to the effect of just wait till your my age. I guess they weren’t kidding, time really does speed up as you get older. Guess that just means that I need to get my butt in gear!
So I’m sure by now you may have noticed the new site design. If you hadn’t…I redesigned my site. I once again changed my mind, isn’t that a women’s prerogative, and reworked everything. I decided that I need more purple and a few girly touches since, well, I like purple and I’m a girl. I hope everyone likes the new layout. I’ve got my portfolio full of my personal projects along with my commission work and hope to add more soon. I also added a new shop section to the site. Currently I’ve got my custom design fees posted and I will be adding more finished products over the next few months. I also helped my hubby and sister-in-law get sites setup for their new business ventures.
I am also looking into printing options for cards, books and photo gifts. I would like to find someone locally but over the holidays I ordered several photo gifts from a couple online companies and they turned out great. So I may go with a online company if I can’t find a local printer.
Over at Faith Sisters, they have had a busy January too. I’m trying to keep up with their My Lifetime Story weekly challenge, in order to get my about me book done. I’m also leading the My Sweet, Sweet Song monthly challenge at the site. Its a music based faithbooking challenge and we are all having a lot of fun sharing our favorite songs with each other.
So with one month down and only 11 more to go to get my 2010 goals done, I’m working hard to make this a great year. I plan to expand my designing and take on more commission work. I really want to help people take their pictures and turn them into wonderful keepsakes they will treasure for years to come. I can’t wait to see where all of this will take me and look forward to the adventures this year holds.
